SkyEurope Soars Past Passenger Milestone at London Luton Airport

SkyEurope Airlines, recently voted Eastern Europe’s most popular low-cost carrier by Skytrax, has successfully flown over 250,000 passengers in less than 10 months of operations at London Luton Airport.

From London Luton, SkyEurope operates frequent services to 3 cities in Slovakia with Bratislava, Kosice and Poprad, as well to the Czech Republic with services to Prague.

The airline's popularity is fuelled by operating to convenient major airports, with assigned comfortable leather seats as well as providing excellent on-time performance and serving real espresso on board.

SkyEurope has their headquarters and technical base in Bratislava (Slovakia), with further bases in Vienna, Prague and Kosice, and operates Europe's youngest fleet of aircraft, with 15 brand new Boeing 737-700 aircraft and an average age of just 14 months, ensuring high comfort, low noise and maximum efficiency. SkyEurope's fleet will grow to 32 Boeing 737-700 aircraft by 2011.

London Luton Airport is one of the UK's largest airports now carrying over 10 million passengers, an increase of nearly 400 per cent over the last decade.  Employing close to 500 staff, the airport is a major economic driver for the region, as well as a major base for 'low cost' or 'no frills' air travel.

In January 2008 London Luton Airport launched its Community Engagement Strategy, which set out the Airport's formal commitments to the community up to 2012.  The strategy focuses on three action areas, 'A Better Environment', 'A Vibrant Neighbourhood' and 'A Growing Economy', identifying priority programmes in each one.
 
As well as outlining the Airport's priorities for the next five years, the document also summarises its commitments for 2008, which include the publishing of a revised environmental policy, practical support for at least 20 local community projects and the development of a schools outreach programme.
